MILESTONE

The word Gawai means a celebration or festival by Iban nation, while Dayak is a term for Sarawak’s native races lile the Iban, Bidayuh, Kayan, Kenyah, Kelabit, Murut, and a few others. So literally Gawai Dayak means Dayak Festival.
The festive mode varies from place to place. preparation starts pretty early. Tuak (rice wine) is brewed and typical delicacies are prepared, such as penganan (rice flour cakes, sugar, and coconut milk). As the big day approaches, the general cleaning and preparation of the food or cakes will get busy for everyone. On Gawai Eve, bamboo ( ngelulun pulut) is roasted with glutinous rice. New mats will be laid out on the ruai in the longhouse ( an open gallery that runs across the entire longhouse length). Many bilik walls (rooms) and ruai are full with pua kumbu (traditional blanket).
Around midnight, the gong is struck. The tuai rumah will lead everyone to drink the Ai Pengayu (normally tuak for long life) and at the same time wishing each other “gayu guru, gerai nyamai” (long life, health and prosperity). A procession is to proceed up and down the ruai called Ngalu Petara (Welcoming the Spirits). Around now, the party will be getting more merrier. Somewill dance to played traditional songs. Once recite the pantun (poems). In the area, the Dayak will gather for an enlivened evening at community centers or restaurants.
During this Gawai festival, this is the only chances for all of the families to reunited as one big family, because all relatives and friends from a far back to hometown and gather together and share all the enjoyable and joyous Gawai celebration.

This is when I’d graduated as a Pra-University students at Smk Bandar Sarikei. I continue to study as a Pra University students because my PLKN (National service) coach asked me to took STPM because it is also known as Pra University and “after you graduated you will continue study degree. This is a shortcut to go for a degree holder” she said. Because she have already convince me to entered form 6 then I just entered and study until I’d graduated. Form 6 life is really though tho, if you kind if person didn’t take serious of study you will not able to continue your study because pra- university life is challenging with lots of assignments and exams. Pra- university need lots of reading and studying. A far from that, I really thanked God because I can made until the end of my STPM with a good results.

I’d used to join National Service (PLKN) back to 2016 before I entered form 6. I spent my 3 month at Junaco Park Sibu and I learned a lot from this National Service and experience lots of things. When I was there, we had divided into a group of company and I was in Charlie’s company. This programme was operated under the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) by the National Service Training Department, or Jabatan Latihan Khidmat Negara (JLKN). The conscripts are randomly drafted teenagers who are 18 years old. The three month program started to promote friendship among young people of various races and ethnic groups concerns that the multi ethnic and multicultural communities in he country have been shown to “be gradually separated from each other”.
What am I dream of?

Well I always dream of myself be a teacher one day. Maybe because my family majority being a teacher then I interested to become a teacher. Another reason why I wanted to become a teacher because I love to teach kid and I love kids so much but, I don’t even care if I’m teaching high school students or primary school or in a kindergarten. With teaching I feel like I’m comfortable. I hope that as a Cognitive Science students I can achieve my goals to become a teacher on day.

The most unpredictable thing that happened to me was that I’m continue my degree in University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) after 2 years I’d waited to continue study because always been rejected my UPU or I can say that I’d no luck to continue my study after my STPM last 2 years. I pray that I can finish my degree with a good results and have a good memory here in UNIMAS.
REFLECTION
Similarly a child goes through many changes and confronts with many developmental challenges that they have to overcome those challenges on the road from infancy to adulthood. There is a never ending struggle to make sense out of this complex process. And there is no end to theories trying to explain it.
As we grow, we will learn and will experience lots of things. For me, I’ve learn many things throughout my experience and of course as my age is increasing the things that i went through also different because everyday we are learning new things and we always learned from our pass because we don’t want to repeat the same mistake that we ever did.
CONCLUSION
All in all, growing up have both advantages and disadvantages. The process is both rewarding and painful, joyous and sad. This transition only be experience once in a life time because been “stuck in the middle” is quite an awkward confusing time.
