  • ANGELLYMAS ANAK ADOP (72998)

My name is Angellymas Anak Adop. I am 21 years old. I was born on 20 December 1999 at Hospital Kapit, Sarawak. I am the youngest of 4 siblings. My father’s name, Adop@Runggah Anak Bunyau, was passed away when I was 1 years old. My mother’s is Lendik Anak Nyuak. My mother worked as a housewife and she is 52 years old. Their nation is iban same goes to me. I was born in a little family which is with my grandfather, mother and the other siblings. I am different from other friends which is I lost my father when I was kid. I even do not know how personality my father when he alive. I only heard from dad’s family how kind my father was and I feel sad because I not have time to make him proud of what I done do today.

I was educated early when I was 4 years old at the Tadika Methodist, Kapit. Later I went to school at Sekolah Kebangsaan Methodist Kapit from standard one to standard six. In primary school I rarely alone to do because I do not want to friends with many people. Thus, I prefer to be friends in small groups because I am not usually friends with large groups. After that, I continued my schooling at Sekolah Menengah kebangsaan Kapit 1 from form One to form Six. Also, I went to Form Six at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kapit 1. I get a good pointer (CGPA) in STPM. After completing the form sixth, I received an offer to further my postgraduate studies at University Malaysia Sarawak attended a Bachelor of Science (Cognitive Science) degree.

Every human being has a goal in their life. I personally have many goals that I want to go through in my life. My goal of life is

  • Achieve my bachelor degree in Cognitive Science
  • Bring my family to travel around the world
  • Have a good career in future

My motto life is this “If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. if you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” This motto makes me believe that everything is going to be okay if I something that I want to achieve, I will get it even have challenge that I must face it. I know it little bit difficult to achieve but if I really want it I will get it as long as I not give up.

Hari Gawai Celebration

The Gawai Dayak or the namely the Gawai Festival was first celebrated on 1st June 1965 it is the first merry festivity with colorful rituals such as traditional music, cook fighting, feasting and games. During this festival, almost everyone dresses with beautiful in traditional costumes while the elders perform the traditional dance. That has great performing customary ritual, drinking of tuak which is made with the locally brewed rice wine also is a tradition during the festival. Tuak must drink midnight on 1st June to get at 12.00 a.m o’clock to bless from other worship which is the Iban nation called ‘Ai Pengayu’. Also, tuak it is a welcoming drink to the visitor who came upon visiting to their longhouse.

For me, Gawai Festival is must to celebrate by Iban nation because in this festival we may only meet distant relatives who cannot return home town for work reasons. The festival every year will be great memories because knowing the relatives either side mother family and side father family. Also, I urge the next generation and future generations after them to please keep this tradition and culture alive. I know it is not easy but it is something we must preserve at all costs.

Form Six

I went on to my sixth grade because my family not capable to take my school fees to a higher place because my sister is still studying at the university for final year. I had to continue on to my sixth grade because it was my last choice. This is because almost all of my other friends are able to pursue their studies at universities, IPTA and so on. I continued my studies in form six although at that time I had no friends. When I was in form six I learned a lot many things such as learned new syllabus where I never study syllabus in form one until form five and I  got some tips from my teachers when I in university life. There are so many challenging because we must hurry up to complete assignment we only have 1 years 6 months in Form Six  Finally, I was able to finish my sixth grade and get a good CGPA which is 2.84 for the overall result and so I was offered to University Malaysia Sarawak. Also, I want to go faster in degree life or called short way to go into university life.

What am I Dream of

I dream to be a teacher some day. It is my passionate since me Standard 6 because I love to teach people such as friends, cousin, and niece. Teach a person just like students is the best thing because not just the students can gain more knowledge but we as a teacher can improve our skills to teach them and give important notes easy to understand for them. I hope take course Cognitive Science in UNIMAS can fulfill my dream to be a teacher one day because it was my passionate. Also, I get inspired to be a teacher when I looking my uncle. He promised me to be like him when I grow up and till now I still remember what he said to me. My inspirations and my passionate make me must fulfill to be a teacher and I must face what challenging coming.

University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS)

The most I did not think when I was able to pursue my studies at University Malaysia Sarawak because I really want to study at University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) since I Form 3. My first day in UNIMAS, I am a bit quite embarrassed to communicate with new friends because I not comfortable with it. Even though my impression is incorrect which is friends with a lot friends can gain new knowledge then can know they different language and different culture.

Actually, throughout my life, I never stay away with my family and I never lived at the hostel. But as long as I lived here, there a lot I have learned especially to be independent in various things. For example, I try to manage financially without help from my parents. I also have friend from different backgrounds in term of race, religion, culture and place.

REFLECTION

Most of my milestones include culture, career, education was in my adolescence. According to Erik Erickson’s Theory of Psychosocial Stages, I am currently in the sixth stage which is intimacy verses isolation. This stage takes place during young adulthood between the ages of approximately 18 to 40 years old. During this period, we begin to share ourselves more intimately with others.  We explore relationships leading toward longer-term commitments with someone other than a family member. Success in this stage will lead to the virtue of love.

In my case, I explored having relationships and sought to commit a longer-term commitment with someone whom we had plans together in the future. I also had a group great friend whom I grew up together with since we were in primary school. I also hope to find true love and an ideal partner for me to grow up and old together with.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, each individual has their own story of growing up, their hardship and even experiences their best moment with the best person. It up to a person’s how to create their own lives.
